Bus was stuck on the tracks before the collision
Thailand's Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angkasakulkiat stated that, according to preliminary information, the bus became trapped on the tracks due to a red traffic light, which prevented the barriers from closing.
The freight train, carrying containers, was unable to brake in time and crashed into the bus. As a result of the impact, the vehicle caught fire.
Eight people died and 32 were injured; the wounded are being treated in various hospitals. All eight deceased were on the bus
Eyewitnesses described the moment of the accident
A witness to the event, motorcycle taxi driver Wantong Kokpho, told Reuters that the bus could not leave the crossing due to a traffic jam.
The bus was stuck at a red light, so it couldn't move. Cars were also blocked and could not move forward
Currently, law enforcement and transport services in Thailand are continuing their investigation into the causes of the accident.
