No member of the Croatian Armed Forces will participate in a peacekeeping operation on the territory of Ukraine. This was written on Facebook by Croatian President Zoran Milanović, reports UNN.
Details
According to Milanović, no Croatian soldier or officer will be part of the peacekeeping force on the territory of Ukraine after the end of Russian aggression. He added that he ran for election in 2020 with this proposal, and therefore it is his "duty to those who entrusted him with their vote."
Milanović's statement came against the background of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković's stay in Paris. The possibility of deploying a military contingent of European countries within the framework of a future peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine was discussed there.
At the same time, the Croatian president believes that there should be no peacekeeping mission, as "elementary agreements for this have not been fulfilled." At the same time, Milanović stated that Zagreb will continue to help Ukraine with weapons.
Let us remind you
On March 11, military leaders from approximately 30 countries gathered for negotiations in Paris at the invitation of Emmanuel Macron. The purpose of the meeting was to develop plans for a "coalition of the willing" to deter Russians from further invasion of Ukraine.
