Ivano-Frankivsk is actively discussing the incident that occurred on the city's 40th bus. One of the passengers allowed herself to publicly insult the city and its residents, calling them “Banderites,” and openly glorified Putin. These statements caused outrage, and the video of the incident has already become widely publicized.
The mayor responded to the situation by calling on law enforcement agencies and the SBU to investigate the incident. In his appeal, he noted that the woman's words bore signs of a criminal offense, as it was not only the use of the Russian language, but also disrespect for Ukraine and propaganda of the Muscovite regime.
We need to respond to this. Because otherwise, one day we will find ourselves under occupation, without a Russian tank and without a Russian boot. I am convinced that this case is one of the cases that was simply captured on camera. By the way, I thank our conductor and the inspector who raised this issue. We will definitely give her a bonus
He also addressed the people of Frankivsk:
“We are too tolerant. This tolerance will come out in the form of one day waking up and not being in a Ukrainian city where our values will be trampled on, where they will tell us about tolerance and the opening of Russian schools, a Russian church, and many other things. If we tolerate it.
Martsinkiv noted that the city is intensifying the campaigns “Ukrainian is spoken here” and “City without the language of the occupier” because communication in Russian in Ivano-Frankivsk leads to undesirable consequences. He emphasized that the main message is that the city should remain Ukrainian-speaking.
The mayor also said that signatures will be collected in the tents of the Frankivsk Gazeta and Legion of Freedom to make Ivano-Frankivsk the first city in Ukraine without the language of the occupier. According to Martsinkiv, if Ukrainian values are trampled upon, the community must give a clear response.
He called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident.
“If not for betraying Ukraine, then for calling for the overthrow of the constitutional order. Because by glorifying the occupier, who is killing our guys today, we are actually tolerating the war and bringing this war,” Martsinkiv added.
