Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, together with other defense forces, are actively working to replenish the exchange fund by capturing Russian military personnel on the battlefield. SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk said this at a joint briefing with the heads of the Defense Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, UNN reports.

Details

The return of Ukrainian defenders is a top-priority task set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. And this is a significant part of our functionality. In addition, SBU officers are successfully working to replenish our exchange fund as much as possible

- Malysh said.

According to him, the negotiation group, which has been preparing exchanges on behalf of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, is now expanding. In particular, it will include representatives of the SBU, the GUR, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces, the SZR and the Ombudsman.

I am confident that this option will allow us to combine our efforts and more effectively fight for every Ukrainian defender to bring them home. It is the synergy and combination of our efforts that will yield the appropriate results as soon as possible

AddendumAddendum

Vasyl Malyuk also said that during fierce fighting in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, special forces of the SBU's Central Special Forces "A" captured more than a hundred Russian military personnel, including officers and representatives of the "Akhmat" unit.

Yesterday, we conducted a sophisticated operation that resulted in 102 Russians being captured. In the future, we are already thinking about how to make the most of this to bring our defenders home

- said the SBU Head.

At the same time, he emphasized that military counterintelligence and SBU investigators are currently working with the Russian prisoners. In particular, to document war crimes committed by them in the war in Ukraine.
