The Kyiv City State Administration stated that after the announcement of an air raid alert, all metro stations were open as shelters. Employees could ask people to move from service premises to platforms for safety reasons.

The Kyiv Metro has refuted information about restricting people's access to subway stations during an air raid alert. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).

Details

On the night of July 29-30, over 56,000 people took shelter at metro stations. As noted by the Kyiv City State Administration, after the air raid alert was announced, all stations were open and functioning as shelters — access for people was not restricted.

In some cases, metro employees could ask people to move from service rooms to the platforms. This is necessary because service rooms and technological passages are not intended for the public and remain closed for safety reasons

- the statement reads.

The KCSA also noted that the metro is a dual-purpose facility: in normal times it transports passengers, and during an air raid alert it serves as a shelter. At the same time, they added that the subway was not designed exclusively as a specialized civil protection structure, so compliance with the rules of staying at stations is an important safety condition.

If you need to use the metro as a shelter in advance, come to the station before it closes. The schedule is posted at each station. If possible, choose central stations, where there is usually more space for people

- the KCSA stated.
