The Jordanian Armed Forces stated on Monday that air defense systems intercepted and shot down three missiles launched from Iranian territory after they entered Jordanian airspace, reports UNN citing CNN.
A CNN correspondent heard the sound of sirens in the capital Amman. This is the second such alarm signal in two days.
The statement from the Jordanian Armed Forces says that the interception operation did not result in casualties or material damage.
"The Armed Forces continue to monitor the airspace of the Kingdom and maintain its operational readiness, and will without hesitation counter any threat that endangers the security, sovereignty, and safety of citizens in accordance with the current rules of engagement," the statement said.
On Friday, two American servicemen were killed in Jordan as a result of Iranian attacks.
