The Iranian Foreign Ministry claims that the attack on Israel was carried out in self-defense. The statement of the Iranian Foreign Ministry was quoted by UNN.
Details
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it responded to the actions described as "an aggressive act of the Zionist regime against the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
The Iranian armed forces are exercising the inherent right of self-defense under Article 5 of the United Nations Charter and in response to the repeated military aggression of the Zionist regime and the martyrdom of Iran's official military advisers who were working in this country [Syria] at the invitation of the Syrian government," and especially in response to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier this month.
The Islamic Republic of Iran also stated that defensive measures were taken in the exercise of the right to self-defense, which demonstrates Iran's responsible approach to regional and international peace and security at a time when the illegal and genocidal actions of the Zionist apartheid regime against the Palestinian nation and the regime's repeated military aggression are still ongoing.
"If necessary, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to take additional defensive measures to protect its legitimate interests against any aggressive military action and unlawful use of force".
