Consumer inflation in Ukraine slowed to 8.2% in May in annual terms from 8.6% in April, according to State Statistics Service data, UNN reports.

Inflation in the consumer market in May 2026 compared to April was 0.9%. Core inflation in May 2026 compared to April was 0.7%, and compared to May 2025 – 7.9%.
Food and Goods Prices
In the consumer market in May, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.2%, and by 7.9% in annual terms.
Fruit prices saw the largest increase (11.1%) in May. Prices for grain processing products, bread, sunflower oil, pasta, fish and fish products, non-alcoholic beverages, beef, and sugar rose by 0.4–1.2%. At the same time,
egg prices decreased by 15.3% over the month, while prices for vegetables, milk, pork, butter, and lard fell by 1.7–0.2%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.9% in May, including a 2.1% rise for tobacco products and a 1.6% rise for alcoholic beverages.
Clothing and footwear prices decreased by 1.8% over the month, specifically footwear by 2.0% and clothing by 1.6%.
Cost of Services
Utility prices (housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels) rose by 0.3% over the month, with an annual increase of 2.1%.
Transport prices rose by 0.7% in May, mainly due to a 2.7% increase in road passenger transport fares, as well as a 0.6% rise in fuel and lubricants. The annual price increase in the transport sector reached 20%.
Education services rose in price by 0.1% over the month and by 14.4% over the year.
Healthcare prices rose by 0.4% over the month and by 2.3% over the year.
It should be noted that the data is provided excluding the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation and parts of the territories where hostilities are (or were) being conducted.
