The Indonesian government has announced that it will block the sale of the Pixel mobile phone manufactured by the American giant Google, as it lacks locally produced components.

A few days after Apple's iPhone 16 was blocked in the largest phone market in Southeast Asia, Indonesia banned the sale of Google Pixel smartphones.
It is explained that the reason is non-compliance with internal requirements.

Indonesia's rule requires that technology companies source 40% of their phone and tablet components domestically. This requirement can be met through local manufacturing, software development, or direct investment in innovative projects.
The spokesman for Indonesia's Ministry of Industry, Febri Hendri Anthony Arief, said that since Google Pixel products do not have locally produced components, the Google mobile phone does not have the necessary certification to be sold in the country.
At the same time, Indonesians will be able to buy both models outside of Indonesia and bring them back to their country, although only as phones for personal use, not for sale.
