According to the investigation, a 19-year-old resident of Drohobych, along with two accomplices (aged 21 and 22), organized a scheme to sell others' accounts. To hack them, they used stolen cookie files—data that allows logging into an account without a password.

Access was verified through special software, and accounts with virtual funds or rare items were selected. From October 2024 to January 2025, they checked over 610,000 accounts, from which the most valuable were selected. During investigative actions, 357 files containing such accounts were discovered.

Subsequently, they were sold on Russian resources with payment to crypto wallets. According to preliminary data, the total profit could have reached nearly 10 million UAH.

As reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, 10 searches were conducted as part of the proceedings. Computer equipment, storage media, phones, bank cards, rough notes, over 2,500 euros, and nearly 35,000 US dollars were seized.

Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional and Frankivsk District Prosecutor's Offices of the city of Lviv, the group members were notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 185 and Part 5 of Art. 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
