In Kyiv, the police detained Hromadske journalist Yevhen Shulhat and put handcuffs on him. The official version is problems with registration documents, but the media suspects that the colleague may have suffered due to his professional activities, reports UNN.
Shulhat says he was riding in a taxi when law enforcement officers stopped the car. He says they even used physical force against him and put him in handcuffs.
"At the same time, the driver's documents did not interest the police, which gives reason to assume that the detention was targeted," said the head of the investigations editorial office, Yaroslava Volvach.

The National Police claims that during the inspection of the car, Yevhen refused to show his passport and military registration documents, as well as to voluntarily go to the TCC. Because of this, the police detained the man and took him to the district recruitment center.
According to preliminary information, he did not undergo the military medical commission on time.

Hromadske suggests that the detention of their colleague may not be accidental and links the incident to Shulhat's professional activities.
"Shulhat worked, in particular, on materials related to corruption by law enforcement officials," the media explained.
The media's editorial office, citing information from its own sources, clarified: Yevhen's detention was led by Oleksii Bilenko. He is part of the inner circle of the former head of the SBU cybersecurity department, Illia Vitiuk. It was about the latter's elite property that the journalist produced a number of materials in 2024.
In addition, the man's colleagues claim that, according to the documents at their disposal, he had no problems with expired military registration documents.

In a comment to hromadske, the police stated that they do not know where Yevhen Shulhat is currently located.
Instead, his colleagues claim that the man is not in contact.
