The police discovered two pseudo-rehabilitation centers where about 50 people were held by force. The victims were forced to work and threatened, without receiving medical care.

In Kharkiv, law enforcement officers exposed two pseudo-rehabilitation centers where about 50 people were forcibly held under the guise of rehabilitation from alcohol and drug addiction. The victims were kept in private houses, deprived of the opportunity to freely leave the premises. This is reported by UNN with reference to the National Police of Ukraine.

Details

The investigation established that psychological pressure and threats were applied to the victims, and they were also forced to perform household chores. The people did not receive any proper medical or psychological assistance.

Six detained members of the criminal group were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unlawful deprivation of liberty or kidnapping of a person). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.
