In the Chernihiv region, law enforcement officers detained a 26-year-old man suspected of raping his underage stepdaughters. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Details
According to the investigation, the 26-year-old man lived in one of the villages of the Nizhyn district together with his wife and her two daughters, aged 13 and 10. In April of this year, he raped his 13-year-old stepdaughter in their home. The following month, he raped the other girl when the two of them went fishing.
The village head noticed that the man was spending a lot of time alone with the children and informed the mother. Subsequently, the children told everything to law enforcement officers who came to their school.
The detainee was notified of suspicion of committing especially grave crimes against the sexual freedom and sexual integrity of young children (Part 4 of Art. 152, Part 6 of Art. 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention. If proven guilty, the man could face life imprisonment.
The victimized children are being provided with psychological assistance.
