The defense enterprise "VNIIR-Progress" in the Russian city of Cheboksary came under attack and caught fire on the morning of June 10. This was reported by ASTRA with reference to an analysis of videos and photos from eyewitnesses, UNN reports.
Details
According to an ASTRA OSINT analyst, the released footage shows a fire on the territory of the enterprise. Following a previous attack on the plant in May, administrative buildings were protected with special netting, and metal structures were installed over the enterprise's territory for additional protection against drones.
"VNIIR-Progress" produces "Kometa" antennas, which are used to protect Russian drones from electronic warfare systems.
Also, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enterprise is engaged in the production of satellite receivers and antennas for GLONASS, GPS, and Galileo navigation systems.
Products are used in drones and missiles
"Kometa" type modules are used in Shahed kamikaze drones, as well as in Iskander-M and Kalibr missiles, and guided aerial bombs with UMPC modules.
ASTRA previously reported that "VNIIR-Progress" had already come under attack twice on May 5. There is currently no information regarding the scale of damage or the possible consequences of the latest strike.
