An indictment on corruption was sent to the court: the former head of the Poltava regional state administration and his advisor are accused of receiving undue benefits in the amount of 176 thousand euros and a luxury car. UNN reports with reference to the press release of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
Details
The case of the former head of Poltava RSA and his advisor has been sent to court. According to the investigation, in 2017, the officials received EUR 176,000 from the financial director of a private company. The money was given in exchange for the company's victory in a tender held by the regional state administration, as well as for the conclusion of road maintenance contracts.
Interestingly, the official, having failed to fulfill his obligations, hinted to the company's director that he needed to bribe him again. As a result, he received an elite Mercedes-Benz Brabus car worth more than UAH 6.5 million, according to investigators.
To conceal the receipt of the illegal benefit, the defendants used bank accounts of a non-resident company, and the official received the luxury car as a birthday present and then registered it in the name of another person.
The actions of the persons are classified under Part 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
