According to the regulations, schoolchildren in Georgia will not be able to use phones, smartphones, or smartwatches during lessons.
By September 2026, all schools in Georgia must prepare for the innovations. They are required to purchase and install special lockers or other storage areas for gadgets.
The Ministry of Education of Georgia has defined several exceptions.
Students will be able to use devices for educational purposes with the permission of the school or teacher. In addition, the rules allow the use of gadgets for health monitoring and other medical needs, provided the relevant documents are available.

Exceptions also apply to emergency situations and other special cases as stipulated by the internal regulations of a specific school.
The new rules also change the procedure for communication between parents and students. Instead of calls to personal phones, communication during the school day must take place through official channels determined by the school. These may include contact numbers for the administration, class teachers, email, school information systems, or official social media pages.
The principal of each school will appoint staff members responsible for receiving, storing, and returning devices to students. If a phone or other device is lost or damaged during storage, the issue of compensation for damages will be resolved in accordance with Georgian legislation.
