Russia's massive missile and drone strikes on civilian targets and critical energy infrastructure in Ukraine are Putin's response to those who believe that peace with him is possible, the European Commission says.

Russia's recent massive attacks with hundreds of missiles and drones on civilian targets and critical energy infrastructure, including hydroelectric power plants, in Ukraine are a response by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to those who still believe that peace with him is possible.  This was stated during a briefing on Tuesday by the European Commission's spokesperson for foreign and security policy, Peter Stano, UNN reports.

Details

"We are following very closely the growing and continued brutality of Russi'a aggression against Ukraine of the past days. Russia has continued terrorizing Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian civilian population by launching massive attacks with hundreds of missiles and drones on several Ukrainian cities, on civilian targets and on increasingly targeting again critical energy infrastructure," the European Commission spokesperson said.

This is something we are condemning resolutely. We are calling on Russia to stop these actions, as we are calling on Russia to stop... aggression. This is a brutal warfare against civilians. And this demonstrates the nature of this continued aggression. And this is also an answer by Putin to everyone who still thinks that peace with him is possible. Because this is his pattern to respond to every peace efforts, to every discussions about peace whatever on international fora - just increasing the brutality with which he is terrorizing Ukrainian population and tergeting the critical energy infrastructure in this case

- Stano emphasized.

According to him, here he can only remind that "intentionally attacks against civilian targets are war crimes." "And the EU will continue supporting Ukraine in the face of this brutal attacks. This is only strengthening our resolve to continue supporting Ukraine," Stano said.
