"Unfortunately, I lost sight in my right eye in July due to an infection in the south of France, and I haven't been able to see for four months now, and my left eye isn't the best," he said.

John, 77, first spoke publicly about his vision problems in September, when he shared on his Instagram page that he was "battling a severe eye infection that unfortunately left me with limited vision in one eye.
