In Bukovyna, customs officers at the Dyakivtsi – Rakovec checkpoint discovered a hidden cargo. The driver attempted to smuggle a drone, cigarettes, and non-ferrous metal scrap into Romania. This was reported by the State Customs Service, writes UNN.
A Mercedes Sprinter driven by a Ukrainian citizen arrived at the Dyakivtsi – Rakovec checkpoint for exit from Ukraine. To pass customs control, the driver chose the "green corridor" lane, intended for the movement of goods not subject to mandatory declaration and taxation.
However, during the inspection of the car, officials of the Chernivtsi customs found a hidden cargo. An elemental composition analyzer helped identify another powdery material in cement and adhesive mixture bags — non-ferrous metal scrap, presumably automotive catalyst scrap. The value of such cargo is explained by the content of platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which have a high market value.
In total, 77 bags weighing 21–22 kg each were found, with a total cargo mass of about 1700 kg.
In addition, customs officers found an undeclared drone in the cargo compartment of the vehicle, as well as cigarettes of various brands and HEETS tobacco products in the amount of 260 packs.
The estimated value of the discovered goods is over 10 million UAH.
Protocols on customs rules violations have been drawn up in accordance with Part 3 of Article 471 and Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. A notification regarding possible signs of a criminal offense under Article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has also been sent to the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Chernivtsi Oblast.
