The court sentenced to 12 years in prison a Russian serviceman who raped a woman in Donetsk region for more than two months. This is reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.

Prosecutors from the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office proved in court the guilt of a Russian serviceman who systematically raped a 57-year-old civilian woman for two months in an occupied village in Pokrovsk district. For committing a war crime, he was sentenced to the maximum punishment provided for by Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — 12 years in prison
The 50-year-old resident of Russia's Sverdlovsk region spent a total of 32 years in prison for robbery and armed robbery before taking part in the war against Ukraine. He signed a contract with the Russian army while serving his sentence in a penal colony, after which he became a rifleman in the 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Combined Arms Army of the Russian Armed Forces.
In September 2025, as part of a small infantry group, the serviceman entered one of the villages in Pokrovsk district. Together with two other Russian servicemen, who had also previously been convicted, he occupied the basement of a private house. Two local residents were sheltering from shelling in the same room. During one of Russia's attacks, the civilian man was killed. The woman remained in the small basement with three armed occupiers.
At the beginning of October, one of them began committing sexual violence against her. The court established that it became systematic and continued for about two months. The serviceman threatened to kill the victim if she refused. Two other Russian servicemen were present nearby all this time, while the woman was effectively deprived of the opportunity to leave the place or protect herself. The abuse ended in December, when Ukrainian servicemen captured the Russian during combat. The victim was released
In court, the accused denied involvement in the crime. At the same time, prosecutors presented evidence that the court found sufficient to prove his guilt in the cruel treatment of civilians.
Following consideration of the case, the Russian serviceman was sentenced to the maximum punishment — 12 years in prison.
