The Security Service and the Office of the Prosecutor General have gathered an evidence base against Russian director, screenwriter, and former State Duma deputy of the Russian Federation Vladimir Bortko. He has been notified of suspicion, reports UNN citing the Prosecutor General's Office and the SBU.

According to the case materials, the suspect uses the multimillion audience of Russian TV channels and internet platforms to justify the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
In his interviews with Kremlin propagandists, he proposed that the military-political leadership of Russia strike our country with tactical nuclear weapons.
Note that Bortko is the author and director of Russian films and TV series, including "Banditsky Petersburg" and "Streets of Broken Lanterns."
At the same time, from 2011 to 2021, he was a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, where he publicly supported the seizure of Crimea and parts of the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
After the start of the full-scale war, the suspect repeatedly appeared on Russian TV broadcasts, during which he questioned Ukrainian statehood and called for the complete occupation of the entire territory of our country.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators of the Security Service have notified Vladimir Bortko in absentia of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪️ Art. 436 (propaganda of war);
▪️ Part 3 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants using mass media).
Comprehensive measures are ongoing to bring the suspect to justice for crimes against the national security of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
