The UK would not be able to fight Russia for more than two months, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff Lieutenant General Rob Magowan has admitted, UNN reports with reference to Telegraph.
Details
Magowan said that the British Armed Forces will have to manage the "operational risk" associated with the lack of necessary resources in future wars.
According to the newspaper, this statement came after Defense Minister Grant Shapps told MPs that he had lobbied Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt to allocate more funds for defense in the last budget, but was unable to get an increase in spending.
"We've made it very clear that the amount of money we're spending on munitions right now ... which is significant ... is not adequate in all areas for the threats we face," Magowan said.
Addendum
Last month, the United Kingdom announced that it would lead a new coalition with Latvia to supply kamikaze drones to Ukraine amid a growing shortage of ammunition on the front lines.
As part of this initiative, Western manufacturers will be involved in the production of FPV strike drones.
