In particular, Hensoldt, which manufactures air defense sensors, is actively recruiting new employees, Bloomberg reports. In 2024, it intends to hire 700 new employees across all divisions.
Rheinmetall expects sales to increase from €7.2 billion to at least €10 billion this year. The agency notes that 108 thousand people responded to the company's vacancies in Germany in 2023. Since the beginning of 2024, this number has exceeded 38 thousand.
Renk HR Director Bridget Schnackenburg told Bloomberg that interest in working in the industry has increased due to a change in attitude toward the defense industry after the war in Ukraine and rising salaries. According to her, the average employee in this sector earns 68 thousand euros a year.
In March, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the EU increased defense production by 50%. According to him, the main task in the coming years is to increase funding for the industry.
