During the summit on Saturday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken criticized Beijing's “escalation and illegal actions” in the South China Sea. He singled out China for hostile actions by its coast guard against the Philippines, a U.S. defense treaty ally.
However, Blinken's Russian counterpart, for his part, said that Washington is stoking anxiety with its nuclear deterrence plan with ally Seoul over the Korean Peninsula.
