Bail has still not been posted for Stefanishyna; the former ambassador plans to appeal the HACC's decision

Former Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna did not post the UAH 6 million bail by August 11. Her defense filed an appeal against the HACC's decision; the hearing will take place on August 13.

Former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna, who is suspected of illicit enrichment, had not paid the required UAH 6 million bail set by the High Anti-Corruption Court by the evening of August 11. At the same time, Stefanishyna's defense filed an appeal with the Appeals Chamber of the HACC, UNN reports. 

Details 

On August 6, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed on former Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna a preventive measure in the form of bail amounting to UAH 6 million.  

Under the Criminal Procedure Code, bail must be paid no later than five days from the date the preventive measure is imposed. 

However, the HACC press service told a UNN journalist that Stefanishyna had still not paid the funds. 

It should be noted that in such a case, the prosecutor may ask the court to change the preventive measure.

At the same time, the Appeals Chamber of the HACC received from Stefanishyna's defense an appeal against the decision on the preventive measure, which the court is to consider on Thursday, August 13, at 9:40 a.m.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna was ordered to undergo a preventive measure in the form of bail amounting to UAH 6 million. The SAPO explained that the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice is suspected in a case involving illicit enrichment of UAH 13.9 million, and that the SAPO prosecutor is currently deciding whether to appeal the court ruling. 

Also on August 6, in addition to bail, the court imposed the following obligations on Stefanishyna: 

to appear when summoned by detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the prosecutor, the investigating judge, or the court;

to notify detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the prosecutor, or the court of any change in her place of residence.
