President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need to preserve the affordability of student dormitories and also announced the expansion of the "eОселя" program and new grants for young people. Zelenskyy said this during the Ukrainian Youth Forum, UNN reports.
Scholarships will be increased from September 1. The minimum academic scholarship will be 4,000 hryvnias, the increased one—more than 5,000, and for specializations—more than 7,000 hryvnias. This is very important. Funding has already been provided for by the Government of Ukraine, but something else is also important: previously, increases in scholarships also meant an increase in fees for student dormitories. And this year we very much want to avoid that. I asked government officials to prepare such changes and the relevant decisions that will ensure that dormitory fees at Ukrainian universities remain unchanged for the next academic year. There should be no increases in dormitory fees, despite the growth in scholarships
According to him, this will allow students to feel more, just a little more, that their scholarships have increased.
