NATO members have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Ukraine's defense. This is stated in an official press release following the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, UNN reports.
Allies strongly condemned the escalation of Russian airstrikes and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Ukraine's defense.
Details
The meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was held at the level of ambassadors and was convened at Ukraine's request, following Russia's recent air strikes on Ukraine.
Russia's ongoing attacks on Ukraine's civilians and critical infrastructure demonstrate the urgent need for our continued support.
It is noted that the allies are already providing Ukraine with unprecedented military, financial, and humanitarian assistance, and are not going to slow down. Namely:
- France will soon send more Caesar howitzers.
- Several allies have joined the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase 800,000 additional artillery shells.
- NATO establishes a Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center in Bydgoszcz, Poland, where Ukrainian forces will be able to train together with Allied forces.
- In addition, under NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP), the Alliance provides important non-lethal support.
For reference
Allies agreed to establish the NATO-Ukraine Council at the Vilnius Summit in July 2023. This Council currently serves as a forum for crisis consultations and decision-making between NATO and Ukraine.
