The Security Service and the National Police have detained two local residents in Ivano-Frankivsk region who committed a series of arson attacks on Ukrainian Defense Forces vehicles. This was announced by the SBU office in Ivano-Frankivsk region, UNN reports .

Details

Investigators found out that in July, the perpetrators set fire to three military vehicles in Kalush and Dolyna. Law enforcement officers detained the young men on an attempt to set two more vehicles on fire at once.

The detainees were residents of Dolyna territorial community of Kalush district.

In particular, a 15-year-old local resident who was looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels came across an ad offering "work". He was then offered money in exchange for cooperation in a chat.

The "customer" was interested in setting fire to TCC administrative buildings, relay cabinets on key railway lines in the western region of Ukraine, and disabling the vehicles of the Armed Forces. A prerequisite for receiving payment was the availability of video evidence of the crime.

Out of the three types of objects that the customer was interested in, the young man chose to identify and set fire to the official vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To do this, he engaged his 18-year-old relative.

During the searches, the police found cell phones and clothes with evidence of subversive activity. A traumatic weapon converted from a starter pistol was also seized from them.

SBU investigators have now served the 18-year-old suspect a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations). He is in custody. He faces up to 8 years in prison. In addition, the issue of bringing to justice a minor involved in the

Addendum

As the investigators found out, the defendants were cycling around the area where they were tracking Ukrainian off-road vehicles

After identifying three potential targets, the criminals took photos of them and sent them to the customer for "approval". On his instructions, the young men made a flammable mixture, doused the military vehicles and set them on fire.

At the same time, they filmed the fire with a cell phone camera for a "report". However, the customer still paid half of what was promised for the burned cars. Law enforcement officers thwarted further plans to "make money" by detaining both criminals "hot on the trail".
