Today, on April 7, all supporters of a healthy lifestyle, people who care about their bodies, can join the World Health Day, UNN writes.

The event was launched in 1950 in honor of the fact that the World Health Organization's charter was approved on April 7, 1948.

The purpose of World Health Day is to emphasize the importance of health in our lives, to engage humanity in solving physical and mental problems, to raise awareness of various diseases, to provide recommendations for improving health and well-being, and to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Each year, WHO chooses a theme that highlights a priority area of public health.

Through World Health Day, the WHO not only raises awareness, but also encourages governments, organizations and the global community to take action to address health issues.

Today, animal rights activists and wildlife lovers can join the celebration of the International Beaver Day. The event was established in honor of Dorothy Richards, an American who has been studying beavers in one of the local nature reserves for more than 50 years.

In the mid-twentieth century, human activity, uncontrolled hunting, and poaching put the world's beaver population under threat.

According to scientists, there are about 1.5 million beavers in the world today, 85% of which live in Europe. The population of beavers in Ukraine fluctuates around 25 thousand individuals.

A tree with a diameter of 5-7 centimeters can be felled in 5 minutes, and a tree with a diameter of more than 40 centimeters can be felled overnight.

From birth, beavers know how to build dams and where to build their homes. This is called genetic memory. Beaver dams are the only structures built by animals that can be seen from space.

The largest beaver dam, 850 meters long, is located in Canada.

In Ukraine, geologists celebrate their professional holiday on the first Sunday of April.

The work of geologists and representatives of related professions covers such activities as lithosphere research, identification of mineral deposits, study of physical properties of the earth's interior, analysis of the chemical composition of mountains, study of the earth's crust movement, and much more.

April 7 marks the beginning of International Trombone Week.

It is believed that this musical instrument appeared in the fifteenth century in Italy. However, it is still not known for certain who exactly is its inventor.

The trombone is one of the oldest instruments still in use in modern symphony orchestras, where it often plays a supporting role. This role adds depth and power to the music. Trombones are versatile and can be found in a variety of musical genres, including classical, jazz, pop, and rock.

There is a big difference between trombones used in jazz and those used in symphony orchestras. Jazz trombones are designed to be lighter and more flexible, with a smaller bore and smaller hole size to make it easier to play fast notes.

Symphonic trombones, on the other hand, are larger, with a larger bore to produce a fuller, louder sound that can fill a concert hall, even from the back of a large orchestra.

Also today, people in many parts of the world join the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Rwandan Genocide.

From April 6 to 7, 1994, in the African country of Rwanda, representatives of the Hutu people came to power in a coup and began to exterminate the Tutsis, the second largest ethnic group. About 800 thousand people were killed during the genocide, which lasted 100 days. The Hutu brutally killed Tutsis even in schools and churches.

Orthodox Christians who follow the Julian calendar celebrate the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary today.

According to legend,  on this very day the Blessed Virgin Mary received the good news from the messenger of God, the Archangel Gabriel, who told her that she had conceived immaculately of the Holy Spirit and would give birth to the Son of God, who would be called Jesus Christ.

Later, an angel appeared in a dream to Mary's husband Joseph and confirmed the news of Mary's conception of the Son of God. He also gave instructions to the head of the family on how to protect the unborn child from persecution and destruction.

According to the New Julian calendar, today is the Day of Remembrance of St. George the Confessor.

George was an opponent of the iconoclasts. For this, he was deposed as Metropolitan of Mytilene. By order of the Emperor of Constantinople, George the Confessor was sent into exile to Chersonesos, where he died.

On April 7, George, Daniel, Mary, and Eudocia celebrate their name days.
