The Ministry of Justice has named rare and popular children's names by region. In western Ukraine, names such as Victoria and Artem are more common, while in the east, Kateryna and Dmytro are more prevalent, UNN reports.

Each region has its unique names, which gives all corners of our state its unique flavor. For example, in western Ukraine, names such as Victoria and Artem are more common, while in the east, Kateryna and Dmytro are more prevalent. Northern Ukraine is characterized by the popularity of the names Anna and Maksym, and in southern Ukraine, Maria and Vladyslav are more often found.
In addition to popular names, each region of Ukraine is distinguished by rarely used names.
For example, in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, rarely used names include:
- Darius;
- Arnela;
- Leon;
- Lia;
- Miron;
- Yasmin;
- Tamerlane;
- Hana.
In Kherson Oblast, rarely used names include:
- Amirkhan;
- Milia;
- Shamil;
- Sumayya;
- Salman;
- Adelaide;
- Eleazar;
- Munira.
In Kyiv, rarely used names include:
- Aquamarine;
- Kvitka;
- Sirius;
- Irma;
- Klym;
- Yanholia;
- Sultan;
- Virliana.
It should be noted that due to the temporary occupation of part of Donetsk Oblast and the lack of access to Luhansk Oblast as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, data for these regions are currently incomplete. The examples provided cover statistics for 2024 and are only a part of the diversity of names in our country.

In 2024, over 176,000 children were born in Ukraine. Among the popular names for babies, Anna, Sofia, Artem, and Maksym lead, while unusual names include Barbie, Mercy, Svyatogor, Sultan, and Dobrynia.
