A U.S. military attack on Cuba "will cause bloodshed with unpredictable consequences." This was warned by the president of the island nation, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on the social network X, UNN reports.
Details
According to him, threats of military aggression against Cuba by the world's greatest power are "well known."
The threat itself is already an international crime. If it were to materialize, it would cause bloodshed with unpredictable consequences, as well as a devastating impact on regional peace and stability
He emphasized that his country "poses no threat, nor does it have aggressive plans or intentions against any country," while Havana "has no intentions against the U.S., and never has – which the government of that country knows perfectly well, including its defense and security agencies."
"Cuba, which is already suffering from multidimensional aggression by the U.S., has an absolute and legitimate right to defend itself against a military attack. However, this cannot be used, neither logically nor honestly, as a pretext for imposing war on the noble Cuban people," Díaz-Canel added.
Context
Bilateral relations between the U.S. and Cuba are at one of their lowest levels in decades, with renewed pressure from Donald Trump and an exacerbation of the energy crisis on the communist island.
Last week, Cuba's energy minister stated that the last-minute supply of Russian oil has been exhausted, and that Cubans will have to endure even more power outages.
According to Axios, Cuba purchased 300 strike drones that it could direct at United States bases. Russia and Iran may be among the exporters of drones to Cuba.
In response, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez accused the U.S. of creating a "fraudulent case" to justify new sanctions and potential military pressure on Havana.
