Law enforcement officers detained a man in Lubny, Poltava region, who had fired at police officers. The incident occurred on August 14 at around 3:20 p.m. in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation, UNN reports, citing the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Poltava region.
Details
The detainee was identified as a 39-year-old man. During a check, he began fleeing and shooting in the direction of the police officers. One law enforcement officer sustained a gunshot wound and was given first aid.
The suspect was notified of suspicion under Article 348 (Encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer, a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border, or a serviceman) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The article provides for nine to fifteen years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
