The UN is not an alternative to a military contingent or security guarantees for Ukraine. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, reports UNN correspondent.

"With all due respect, the UN will not protect us from occupation or Putin's desire to come again. We do not see the UN as an alternative to a contingent or security guarantees. We support reasonable, logical relations with the UN, I mean with representatives, the Secretary General, etc. But it cannot be the UN, it cannot be an alternative to security guarantees. Because the UN will not have any mandate to protect Ukraine if Putin comes to us with war again," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He also noted that the Russian Federation will not be afraid of the UN, as it has already violated all international norms by starting a war against Ukraine. According to the President, Ukraine is counting on a strong military infrastructure, including air defense, ships, aircraft, as well as the support of partners who provide intelligence and military assistance.

The President of Poland stated that a military contingent is not mandatory to control a peace agreement. According to him, Russia is a member of the UN and may agree.
