Amazon, an internet services company, plans to launch the first satellites for its Project Kuiper global internet network as early as April 9.
This was reported by UNN with reference to Reuters.
Details
The Atlas 5 rocket will launch 27 satellites into orbit from the Space Force Station in Florida, namely Cape Canaveral. According to Amazon Kuiper Vice President Rajeev Badyal, this is the first time the company has deployed so many satellites at once.
Regardless of how the mission develops, this is just the beginning of our journey, and we have all the elements to learn and adapt as we prepare for repeated launches in the years to come.
In total, Amazon plans to deploy more than 3,000 satellites as part of Project Kuiper. Presumably, the company will compete with Elon Musk's SpaceX, which has launched more than 8,000 Starlink satellites.
Supplement
Maxar has created the Raptor system. It provides accurate determination of the coordinates of objects on Earth and uses 3D maps to navigate drones without GPS.
