Karoline Leavitt will leave her position as White House press secretary at the end of August. Among the candidates to replace her are Anna Kelly, Sage Steele, Jason Miller and others.

Karoline Leavitt will leave her position as White House press secretary at the end of August to spend more time with her family. Her departure will be a serious loss for Donald Trump ahead of the midterm elections, amid the war with Iran, economic problems and internal divisions within the Republican Party. The Telegraph writes, reports UNN.

Details

Leavitt was one of the Trump administration’s most prominent communicators and regularly defended the president during briefings. The White House must now decide on her successor.

One of the leading contenders is 29-year-old Anna Kelly, Leavitt’s current deputy. For her age, she has significant experience working in the Republican Party and in press offices.

Kelly is known for harsh criticism of journalists, whom she accuses of spreading "fake news." In her manner of communicating with the press, she is closest to Leavitt, which could make her a natural candidate for the position.

Among the other possible candidates is 53-year-old former ESPN host Sage Steele. After leaving the network, she grew closer to Trump’s team and spoke at his events. At the same time, Steele previously denied that she was interested in working as press secretary.

Another option could be Jason Miller, one of Trump’s longest-standing allies. He has worked with the president since his first presidential campaign in 2015. Miller would likely represent a less confrontational approach to working with the media.

Trisha McLaughlin, a former assistant secretary of homeland security for public affairs, is also being mentioned among the contenders. She frequently appeared in the media defending the administration’s policies, particularly on immigration issues.

Karoline Leavitt and Alina Habba have also made the list of possible candidates. Lake currently oversees work with the "Voice of America," while Habba remains close to Trump after serving as his attorney.

At the same time, the White House has not yet announced a final decision on Leavitt’s successor.
