Leavitt, who served as Trump's press secretary during his first term in the White House, was one of the most prominent supporters of Trump's "Make America Great Again" movement. In a social media post announcing her departure, the Republican president called her one of his "most trusted aides."
He said that Leavitt "will be leaving her position at the end of the month to spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision that I completely understand and respect! Caroline will now be one of my top outside advisors and an influential voice within the Republican Party as we work to defy history and achieve a convincing victory in the midterm elections."
