The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, reacted sharply to UNESCO's statement following the Russian attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, noting that the organization continues to demonstrate weakness and a lack of leadership, UNN reports.
Absurd. The organization responsible for protecting cultural heritage does not even know who it is protecting it from. Why is it so hard to simply say "Russian strike"? Unfortunately, UNESCO continues to demonstrate a lack of leadership, weakness, and an inability to fulfill its mandate.
Context
UNESCO released a statement regarding the attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra but did not specify that the strike on the monument was carried out by the Russian Federation.
As a reminder
Earlier, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Ukraine is initiating relevant procedures within UNESCO and other international mechanisms, demanding an "immediate and adequate response" to the Russian strike that significantly damaged the buildings of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
