In Ukraine, the rendering of military honors to heroes for fighters declared dead by a court has been established at the legislative level, the Verkhovna Rada reported on Thursday, UNN writes.
The Parliament adopted the relevant law on the introduction of a military farewell ritual (No. 15029). 273 People's Deputies voted in favor.
What is provided for
The law was developed for the families of military personnel who defended the sovereignty of Ukraine and were declared dead by a court due to the absence of a body.
Since the current regulations provide for the rendering of honors only during burial or reburial, the new document introduces a separate military farewell ritual.
As noted by the government representative in parliament, the bill provides for the regulation of the issue of rendering military honors to persons who defended the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine, from among those declared dead by a court, through the definition of the Procedure for conducting a military farewell ritual.
To this end, a military farewell ritual has been introduced—a procedure for the solemn rendering of military honors at the site of a cenotaph to persons who defended the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine, from among those declared dead by a court, by making relevant amendments to the Statute of Garrison and Guard Services of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and its Annex.
