Ukraine will officially celebrate Ukrainian Music Day - the date was chosen in memory of the "Chervona Ruta" festival. The decision was made by the Verkhovna Rada, UNN reports.

As reported in parliament, the corresponding resolution on the establishment of Ukrainian Music Day (No. 15053) was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada with 292 votes from People's Deputies.
The document provides for the annual celebration of Ukrainian Music Day on the third Saturday of September.
The resolution aims to preserve the memory of the 1989 "Chervona Ruta" festival as a landmark event in the history of Ukrainian music, as well as to honor the contribution of Ukrainian performers to the development of national culture.
According to Oleksandr Sanchenko, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Music Industry of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, representatives of the music industry, including the Ukrainian Agency of Copyright and Related Rights, approached the People's Deputies with the proposal to introduce Ukrainian Music Day. According to him, the professional music community should have its own day to consolidate efforts for the development of Ukrainian music and to strengthen state support for the industry.
