To ensure maximum safety, it is necessary to build underground schools, according to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi.
This was stated by the government official on the air of "We-Ukraine", reports UNN.
We have already built 178 shelters of various designs, said Lisovyi. Considering the priorities in the context of military threats, it is important that Ukrainian schools become the safest.
Now we have reached the stage where it is impossible to modernize old shelters. We need to build actually underground schools. We are building underground schools.
Fully equipped underground schools include everything necessary for learning in wartime conditions.
This is not just a shelter, but a fully functional school: with classrooms, social spaces, activity and dining areas. This is a space where children see a teacher in person for the first time in years of war, not through a gadget screen.

The First Lady of Ukraine explained the need for underground schools in front-line regions. Zelenska emphasized the importance of finding new solutions to ensure quality education in wartime conditions.
UNN previously reported that 40 underground schools are being built in the front-line territories, with more than 120 such facilities planned in total. This will create conditions for the education of over 100,000 children who are currently deprived of access to full-time education.
