A spokesperson for a Ukrainian brigade operating in the Kharkiv sector reportedly said on December 20 that Ukrainian forces conducted their first ground attack using only robotic systems instead of infantry on an unspecified date near Liptsi (north of Kharkiv) and successfully destroyed unspecified Russian positions during the attack.
According to ISW, the spokesman said that Ukrainian forces conducted the attack with dozens of UAVs equipped with machine guns and also used UAVs to establish and clear unspecified positions in the area. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly emphasized Ukraine's efforts to use technological innovation and asymmetric strike capabilities to compensate for Ukraine's manpower limitations, in contrast to Russia's willingness to accept unacceptable casualty rates for minor territorial gains, the report said.
It is noted that Ukraine also continues to innovate the production of drones.
Ukraine's General Staff reports that Ukrainian officials have completed testing a fiber optic drone that will be more resistant to electronic warfare (EW). Russian forces have reportedly recently used such drones in the Kursk region and Ukraine. A Ukrainian drone manufacturer reported that it recently assembled a prototype of the first FPV drone made exclusively from components made in Ukraine.
