Ukraine changes train routes following overnight Russian attack – what you need to know

Due to the shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region, the railway has adjusted train schedules and routes. Passengers will be transported with transfers to ensure safety and timely travel.

Following a massive Russian attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region, the railway has changed the schedule and routes of several trains, Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Monday, according to UNN.

For the safety of passengers, Ukrzaliznytsia is adjusting train movements following the massive overnight shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region

Ukrzaliznytsia's monitoring groups, as stated, "delayed the departure of several trains due to the direct threat of enemy drones - primarily in the Dnipropetrovsk region." "It is worth noting that despite the difficult night, UZ passengers and rolling stock were kept safe from any damage. Nevertheless, we are changing some routes and will arrange transfers so that the carriages can return for their return trips on time, and delays for passengers are somewhat reduced," UZ emphasized.

As reported, the changes affected the following trains:

  • train No. 79/80 Dnipro — Lviv, departing from Dnipro on May 17, will proceed to Kyiv. Passengers traveling to Lviv will be transferred in Kyiv to additional train No. 291 Kyiv — Lviv. Estimated departure of the additional train from Kyiv is after the arrival of train No. 79, around 13:30;
    • the return trip No. 80 Lviv — Dnipro departing on May 18 will start from Kyiv. For passengers from Lviv to Kyiv, a replacement train No. 292 Lviv — Kyiv will be assigned. Boarding in Lviv is according to the schedule of train No. 80, approximately at 15:10. Upon arrival in Kyiv, passengers will transfer to the main train set;
      • train No. 86/85 Zaporizhzhia — Lviv is expected in Lviv around 21:00, as a result of which train No. 103/104 Lviv — Lozova will depart later than scheduled, around 23:00;
        • train No. 285/286 Dnipro — Lviv is expected in Lviv around 18:00, accordingly, the return trip No. 286/285 Lviv — Dnipro will depart with a delay of about 3 hours;
          • train No. 83/84 Dnipro — Uzhhorod, departing from Dnipro on May 17, will proceed to Lviv. Passengers traveling to Uzhhorod will be transferred in Lviv to a separate train set. Estimated departure from Lviv to Uzhhorod is around 18:00. For passengers from Uzhhorod in the opposite direction, departure will be organized by a separate train set to Lviv according to the schedule of train No. 83/84, approximately at 16:45. In Lviv, the main train set will be waiting for the passengers.

            "We ask passengers to carefully follow notifications in the app, announcements at stations, messages from train crews, and official updates from Ukrzaliznytsia. Despite potential threats, railway workers are doing everything possible to ensure passengers reach their destinations as quickly as possible," UZ noted.
