Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga has called on NATO to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance at a meeting to be held next week. The invitation should be the Allies ' response to the constant escalation of the war unleashed by Russia. This is reported by Reuters with reference to Sibiga's letter to NATO, reports UNN.
"I urge you to support the decision to invite Ukraine to join the alliance as one of the results of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers on December 3-4, 2024. We believe that the invitation should be extended at this stage. This will be an adequate response from the allies to the constant escalation of the war unleashed by Russia, the latest demonstration of which is the involvement of tens of thousands of North Korean troops and the use of Ukraine as a testing ground for new weapons," the letter says.
The letter reflects Kiev's renewed desire to receive an invitation to join NATO, part of a "victory plan" outlined last month by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to end the war.
Earlier, NATO diplomats stated that at this stage there is no consensus among the members of the Alliance regarding the invitation of Ukraine. Any such decision will require the consent of all 32 NATO member countries.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky statedthat the invitation of Ukraine to NATO is what the Ukrainian state deserves and stressed that now there is not enough political will of partners to join the Alliance.
