Partnership between Ukraine and UNESCO: the parties discussed the mission to restore the sites affected by the impact of the Russian Federation

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and UNESCO held a meeting on partnership and support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. They discussed the restoration of damaged facilities, support for journalists, and educational programs.

On July 18, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and UNESCO met to discuss effective partnership and further support for Ukraine in the face of Russia's ongoing armed aggression.

On July 18, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Head of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO Iryna Borovets met with UNESCO Liaison Officer in Ukraine Chiara Dezzi Bardeschi. 

The Head of the National Commission drew the interlocutor's attention to a number of important issues. In particular:

 the state of natural biosphere reserves in Ukraine;

destruction of sports infrastructure as a result of Russian armed aggression.

Iryna Borovets called on UNESCO to accelerate consultations on a possible joint mission to assess the damage and provide recommendations for the restoration of these important sites.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the effective partnership between Ukraine and UNESCO.

Iryna Borovets praised UNESCO's efforts to restore damaged cultural sites and create new platforms to promote cultural development in Ukraine.

In addition, Ukraine noted the critical support provided to Ukrainian journalists, including the provision of protective equipment. Such support is essential to ensure the safety and uninterrupted work of journalists in the face of Russian aggression.

Iryna Borovets noted the support in the field of education and the assistance provided by UNESCO to Ukrainian educational institutions, in particular the mobilization of resources from Japanese partners to support mental health and psychological resilience programs for teachers and students.
