Two months in custody or bail – a preventive measure has been ordered for one of the suspects in the "porn offices" case

Ministry of Internal Affairs officials and police chiefs of three regions have been served with notices of suspicion for bribery. The Prosecutor's Office is requesting bail of 7.5 million hryvnias for the detainees.

Volodymyr Yatsyuk, Deputy Chief of Police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, has been ordered to be held in custody with the possibility of bail set at 5 million hryvnias. This was reported by a journalist from UNN from the courtroom.

Details

Yatsyuk is suspected of "protecting" porn offices. The case was heard on Thursday, May 21, in the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv. The prosecution requested bail in the amount of 7.5 million hryvnias. However, the judge only partially granted the motion. The prosecution does not plan to file an appeal,

- the journalist reported from the courtroom.

The defense prohibited journalists from speaking with the suspect. 

Context

On Wednesday, May 20, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko announced a large-scale operation to clear the National Police system of corruption conducted in Ukraine. A scheme to cover up "porn offices" in three regions was exposed.

Law enforcement officers detained in the case of protecting "porn offices" were served with notices of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an improper benefit).

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from 8 to 12 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to 3 years and with confiscation of property.

The list of suspects includes:

  • Assistant to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Teterya — V. Vorobey;
    • Chief of Police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region — S. Bezpalko;
      • Deputy Chief of Police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region — V. Yatsyuk;
        • First Deputy Chief - Head of the Investigative Department of the Ternopil region police — A. Tkachyk;
          • Deputy Chief of Police of the Zhytomyr region — I. Hulevatyi.

            According to the case files, the individuals were involved in "protecting" the activities of models on internet platforms with explicit content. Thus, for various amounts of improper benefits, the officials, according to the SBU, guaranteed their "protégés" immunity from prosecution for illegal content.
