According to the publication, Trump generally supports concluding the deal and expects to finalize negotiations in the near future, but seeks to strengthen certain provisions of the document. Primarily, this concerns issues related to Iran's nuclear materials and restrictions on its nuclear program.
The current draft memorandum includes a commitment from Tehran not to develop nuclear weapons and opens a 60-day window for further negotiations on nuclear restrictions and potential easing of U.S. sanctions. At the same time, specific steps regarding the reduction of enriched uranium stockpiles have not yet been finalized.
Negotiations may continue for several more days
Trump's request has effectively initiated a new round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The White House emphasized that the president will only agree to a deal that serves American interests and guarantees that Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Iranian officials state that the final text of the document has also not yet been approved by Tehran.
