An official of the Lviv Customs was detained for receiving 23,000 US dollars in bribes, the Prosecutor General's Office reported, writes UNN.

"The head of one of the customs posts of the Lviv Customs has been exposed and detained. According to the investigation, the official received 23,000 US dollars in bribes from a resident of Lviv region," the report says.
According to the prosecutor's office, for this amount, the employee assured that "he can assist in the unhindered customs clearance of international shipments without calculating and paying the corresponding customs payments".
The amount of illegal profit, as noted, was 5% or 7% of the actual value of the goods and depended on its type.
The suspect, as indicated in the prosecutor's office, was detained after receiving the second part of the illegal benefit in the amount of 20,000 US dollars.
The man was notified of suspicion of receiving an illegal benefit in a particularly large amount by an official who holds a responsible position (Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
At the request of the prosecution, the man was suspended from his position.
