The National Bank of Ukraine is expanding the publication of external sector statistics to include data in euros and hryvnia as Ukraine moves forward on its path to European integration and EU membership, UNN reports, citing the NBU.
Details
"The National Bank of Ukraine is expanding the publication of the main tables of external sector statistics of Ukraine on the NBU website with data in euros and hryvnia. This practice is consistent with Ukraine's European integration progress," the regulator said.
The NBU noted that Ukraine is a candidate for EU membership starting in June 2023.
"Almost all developing countries of the European Union publish data on the main products of external sector statistics in euros. [Expanding the publication of external sector statistics in euros and in national currency is the best practice for candidate countries," the NBU said.
At the same time, it is reported that the statistical description of the data, their analysis and forecast will be published, as before, in US dollars.
Recall
The NBU pointed out that due to the increase in the volume of foreign exchange transactions in euros, a discussion may soon arise about switching to pegging the hryvnia exchange rate to the euro instead of the dollar.
