President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the military should not enter politics if they want to combine it with war. The head of state said this in an interview with the tabloid The Sun, reports UNN.

He noted that various political forces are now pushing the military into politics.

It was after 2014, when every political party wanted some military, war stars, and I think it was a very big mistake. They were pushed into politics because they were destroyed, their reputation

- Zelensky said.

Addendum

At the same time, Zelensky noted that the military can also engage in  politics,  but then they should choose one thing.

If a military man decides to engage in politics, it is his right, then he should go into politics, and then he has no time for war. Then he has to enter politics, and then he will not be able to engage in war. If you lead a war with the idea that tomorrow you will be engaged in politics or elections, then in words and on the front line you behave like a politician, not like a military man, and I think this is a huge mistake. With all due respect to General Zaluzhny and all the commanders who are on the battlefield, there is an absolute understanding of the hierarchy and that's it, and there can't be two, three, four, five

- the President of Ukraine emphasized.

To recap,

Earlier this month , the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, in an article in The Economist statedthat the threat of a transition to a positional war is a serious challenge for Ukraine, and that delaying it is beneficial for the enemy, as it will allow it to restore and build up its military potential. Zaluzhnyi also named five priorities in order to defeat russia.

Western partners, in particular Washington, reacted positively to the article by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny, saying that it emphasizes the need for further support for Ukraine.

Instead, the President's Office said at the time that that the military should not make publicwhat is happening at the front.
