Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has stated that the United States and Panama will sign a "framework" agreement on free passage for American warships through the Panama Canal. This was reported by Fox News, according to UNN.

As Hegseth pointed out, the agreement will allow American warships to pass "first and freely" through the Panama Canal.
According to the head of the US Department of Defense, the two countries had previously signed a memorandum of understanding on security cooperation. He added that work is already being completed on a document that guarantees warships and support vessels priority free passage through the canal.
